The Yakima Hale is one of the older, more historic American peach varieties dating back to its discovering in 1955 in Red Bluff, California, by Mr. J.H. Hale. These peaches usually size up very well and have more of a light yellow hue with some orange coloring. High Country Orchards are one of the few growers who harvest this original cultivar that seems to thrive in the Grand Valley microclimate. The Yakima Hale ripens a few days before standard Elbertas. These peaches along with most other later varieties are freestone.
